Yes, I know but the Previous NFL Comish. said San Diego would NOT host a super bowl without a new stadium

Thats what the Chargers are arguing for right now!

So long as the new stadium seats at least 70K.

The commissioner only dissed SD last time around because the owners sign his paycheck and the Chargers' owner wanted leverage to get a new stadium. Remember the reason SD hosted it last time is because SF never got their stadium built and Candlestick doesn't cut it as a Super Bowl venue. In other words, San Diego bailed the NFL out of a tight spot on short notice.

The press, players, and fans were wondering why they don't just come to SD every year. The weather is great, the town is great, the organizing committee has it all going on. The only issue is that Qualcom is a bit too small and not doesn't have the best facilities. Then again, the Rose Bowl is about as old and comfortable as the Roman Coliseum.

I doubt they will get one without a new stadium. The stadium they play in now by accounts is a dump, and it wouldn't be a good place to hold the biggest game of the year.

A new stadium would pretty much guarantee a Super Bowl in the future, just based on the fact it's in San Diego.

San Diego is an awesome town. They definitely should host at some point.

I think it's unlikely unless they get a new stadium built. Qualcomm Stadium is a great stadium with a great history, but it's getting old and can't support the demands that a Superbowl needs these days.
