Once you have finished your AA, you have two more years to go to get your bachelor's (undergrad) degrees. If you then want to go on for a master's degree, you would be a graduate student - that covers anyone who is a student who already has a bachelor's degree.

Most likely it will take you at least another 2 years to complete your baccalaureate degree. It depends on how many credits from your AA degree from the community college (CC) is accepted in transfer by the 4-year institution.

Is the CC affiliated to the 4-year institution that you intend to transfer to? If it is, there mostly likely is a Transfer Articulation Agreement between schools. This means that courses you take to fulfill your AA degree will transfer as part of the General Education requirements of the baccalaureate degree at the 4-year institution. General Education requirements are normally fulfilled within 2 years. After you fulfill your General Education requirements, you will be concentrating on you major as well as any other upper-division requirements. Normally this process takes another 2 years.

It is best to talk to your adviser at your CC. Tell them that you intend to transfer to a 4-year institution upon graduation. They can help you select the appropriate courses to fulfill both your AA and your baccalaureate degree.

As for your question about graduate school. You are considered to be an undergraduate until you earn your baccalaureate degree. Upon graduation and admission to a graduate program, you will be considered a graduate student.

Best wishes!

If you are on a straight path and get academic counseling to help choose your coursework, you will finish your undergraduate degree in 4 years total (2 at the junior college, and 2 at the 4-year college.)

If you're on a 'do it yourself' path, it could take longer. Some courses are prerequisites for others and if you don't get to them soon enough you'll have to stay enrolled until you meet the prerequisite and they come around again. Academic counseling is critical for the quick path out of college.

As soon as you graduate and are accepted into a graduate program, you become a graduate student. It's great to get all of this done before you have a family or start your career because graduate school can stretch out over a decade and sometimes never get completed as life gets in the way.

Get counseling, stay focused, and finish as soon as you can.
