About 2 days ago we noticed that a few of our fish had come down with white spot (Ich), and we immediatley took steps to treat it (according to info given by our local aquarium place).

This morning we found our 10-year-old Synodontis upside-down in the tank, breathing normally and happily eating food. He seems to be fine swimming, it's just that when he stops he floats belly-up again.

Do you think he will go soon, or do you think that there is any chance or recovery? If so, are there any steps we should be taking to help? I hear that they are very hardy but I'm not sure how he'll go with this one...

It's such a shame because we've had him for so long, so serious answers will be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Other fish are fine, ph levels are good, temp is higher but not beyond their bearable range (turned it up to help with the white spot). Have also added white spot treatment to the tank as reccomended by the aquarium place.

Salt is another idea to treat your fish with including turned up heater

you should put 1 tspn of aquarium salt to 1 gallon of water, so that means if you have a 20 gallon tank, take out 1 gallon of water into a bottle and dissolve 20 tspn. salt in it and add it slowly to your tank
Turn up the heat to 88 degrees (most fish can take that for a short period of time like 3 days)
Follow up with 25% partial waterchange and the salt treatment until you don't see any spots anymore

Hope that helps
Good luck
