I went once when I was in the Bahamas. It was something I always wanted to try, so I did it. It was just one of the "resort courses", which was a couple hours of instruction in a pool and a very closely supervised dive in water no deeper than 20 feet. And it was absolutely amazing! The water was so warm and clear there and all the fish and coral were beautiful. It was like entering another world.

I would like to take the whole certification course but I want to plan it for when I am going on a tropical vacation again. Maybe someday! I live in Northern California and the thought of doing a dive in the cold water here just isn't appealing to me. I highly recommend trying it out if it is something you are interested in.
