I live in Arizona and have a Tipu tree that one big branch broke off. Will the tree live?

I live in Arizona and have a Tipu tree that doring a wind storm half the tree broke off. The tree truck is about 12 inches across and went up to a y. One part of the y broke. Do I have to do anything extra to save the rest of the tree?

You can clean up any splintering left over and paint the bare wood with a tree wound dressing to prevent insects and rot. Trekote is one brand that is available at your local garden center.

If the branch broke or fell off because
of disease, then you should get the tree
treated, or the whole tree may die.
