Haridwar is a good place just 4-5 hrs travel from Delhi. The route is thru Meerut and the road is safe & good. Also u have train facilities along with bus.
It is really a cool place. Don't miss the evening aarti to the River Ganges. Hundreds of oil lit lamps will be left floated in the river and it is a marvelous sight.*

Hi,
You can plan you weekend trip for either Uttaranchal or Rajasthan both the states are nearest to Delhi.
If you want to visit Hill Stations you should go to an city of Uttranchal like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Nainital etc. And if you are interested to visit Royal cities you Should go for Rajasthan tour and visit different royal cities of Rajasthan including Jodhpur, Jaipur, Udaipur, Ranthambhor, Pushkar etc.

By car to Haridwar (about 4 hrs) and then to Rishikaesh ( 1Hr) Return to Haridwar (good hotel accommodation available) Return to Delhi next day. Don't miss to see Ganga Arti at Haridwar in the evening. Many more to see and enjoy at Haridwar.

if u wanna come back the same day then you could drive on the karnal road(GT) and stop at a good Hrayana Tourism Lake side resort at pipli.. enjoy the afternoon there and come back after evening...
if you have a little longer plan then you could go to rishikesh -go for rafting if you want or camping & trekking and then to haridwar- spend the evening at the ghat it is amazing. (haridwar and rishikesh) are close to gether a 45min. drive.
pls note: pls don't go this weekend the ganga had been overflowing on the independance day.
you could also go to jim corbet national park...its apleasurable experience(but mind you bookings have to be well in advance)
