A cloudburst is an extreme form of rainfall, sometimes mixed with hail and thunder, which normally lasts no longer than a few minutes but is capable of creating minor flood conditions.

A cloud-burst refers to a sudden and very heavy rainfall ,often acompanied by thunder and hail.It is associated with strong upward and donward currents which are usually noticed in cumulonimbus clouds.The rainfall will be in the form of showers. Heavy rainfall will occur within a short period sometimes causing floods.These occur sometimes in the peninsular India during the onset of south-west monsoon and in some other parts of the world also.
