I'm looking to buy a phone with WiFi capabilities. There are some with both 802.11b/802.11g and some with only one, typically only 802.11b. If that's the case, does it make the phone with only 802.11b any less accessible to WiFi hotspots? And is one faster than the other? Thanks!!!

b has a max bit rate of about 20 Mbits/s
g has a wider range and a max bit rate of 50 Mbits/s
However, most access points provide 500 kbits-1 Mb/s (DSL-like speeds), so speed should not be an issue.

Almost all hotspots will be wireless A-B-G accessable. This means you will be able to connect. And yes, G is faster than B but depending on what you want to download it might not matter, it's only a cellphone.
