There's not a best school in the world. Some are better than others, obviously, and Harvard and Princeton and Yale are certainly up on the list. Check out the U.S. News and World Report Rankings, as well as the Princeton Review rankings. That's a good start.
Ultimately, the best school is the one that has what you're looking for in a university.

I think in the entire world, it's often considered Oxford (in Oxford, England). In the U.S., it's Princeton, closely followed by Harvard, Yale, and MIT.

M.I.T. - which offers a required series of humanities courses to those people pursuing technology, more than science majors commonly get at liberal arts colleges. But what makes it the greatest is that while there, everyone assumes everyone wants to learn about all the stuff going on, unlike colleges that keep non-majors or non-graduate students out of seminars. It is a fascinating place.

The best college might not be in the U.S.

There is also Oxford and Cambridge to contend with our universities.

If you are interested in the sciences, then MIT is probably the best school.

There is not a straightforward answer to this question. Only opinions.

There's no way of measuring all the colleges in the WORLD, but for all the colleges in the U.S., try buying a copy of U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT "AMERICA'S BEST COLLEGES".

They publish a new copy every year listing out every single college in the United States with its ranking. It's a very helpful guide and very easy to use.

Good luck!
