The car will have a warranty that will take care of most large repairs, but maintenance is your responsibility. Also be sure to stay under the mileage limit of your contract, and you are also responsible for any unusual wear and tear. I used to sell cars, trust me.

It really depends on the dealership. I've leased vehicles before where my maintenance records went from my hands, to theirs, to the garbage can. The problem with this is no dealership is going to tell you up front that you don't need to regularly maintain the vehicle. Technically, under contract, it is your responsibility. If it's a new vehicle, most anything that falls under the "major repair" category will be covered under warranty. HOWEVER, should something major need repaired, the dealership may ask to view the maintenance records to see whether it was due to you negligence. But again, it depends on the dealership. I've blown a motor and a rear-end on a lease vehicle and didn't have to show them anything. You're pretty safe in a lease as long as you do the basic stuff regularly -- oil changes, etc. It is important to watch your mileage as another user stated. I think the standard rate is .25 a mile over your agreed-to mileage per your contract. You can negotiate higher mileage for a bit more $$ a month. In my case it was worth it. Be advised though, if you turn the vehicle in after the lease instead of buying, you're obligated to pay for some cosmetic repairs i.e. severe scratches, dents etc.

Watch out for the mileage limitations. It can get real expensive if you have to buy the mileage at 15 or 20 cents a mile. You are limited to 12 to 15K a year. If you plan on driving the car and taking trips then you may want to buy instead. You also have to have the repairs done when you turn the car in. Ask some other people that have had an experience with car leases. good luck.

It depends on the lease, but, in general, a full maintenance lease is a lot more expensive that a standard lease that makes you responsible for all maintenance and repairs not covered by warranty.

Pretty much. Might as well buy it. At least you own it at the end.
