Can anyone who works in psychology/neuropsychology tell me if there is anyway one can genuinely increase their IQ? Are there effective, proven methods of building on the amount you inherited genetically at birth? i.e certain exercises, techniques etc...

Smile. People with low IQ don't usually ask those questions. But if one would like to smarten up, all they would need to do is study as much information as they can handle on every possible subject.
