Are you talking about online or in person? Either way, you will need at least 2 forms of ID which can be a license, a passport, etc. You'll need a social security card. Obviously, some money to add for the opening deposit. I believe that the forms of ID have to be state issued. I also think that you can use student ID.

Identification-Probably 2 kinds. If you have a school id that might work if it has a photo. Most states consider 18 the age of majority so you may need a parent to sign with you. If you open a checking account they will give you a debit card. (no charge for it) BUT, that is the fastest way to have money running out of your account. It's too easy and most people aren't disciplined enough to be cautious about this. Even the old folks have a problem with this one. Set yourself a budget and hold yourself to it. With this plan you will be able to have great credit (an asset more valuable than gold these days). It's how you will be able to borrow money in the future so protect it! You may not want your friend's to know you have this treasure card. They may expect you to pay because you do. Also, note! Checking accounts COST you money every month; they take a bit extra out for their services. Savings accounts, even have a fee these days so shop first before you just open an account at the first bank! Make them tell you why you should choose their bank! Be smarter than we have been! Now the older folks know better but, it takes a lot of time to get out of the mess that you create for yourself and boy do you feel silly while you are trying to figure out how you could have been so stupid in the first place! Good Luck!

You should be able to go to a band and open a savings account and they'll ask you for the following information:
Legal Name (first, last, middle)
Address
Social Security Number
Photo ID (I believe they'll want something)
Mother's maiden name (to use as a security question)
Call them up or look them up on the web in advance and see if they list anything else. Also check to see if they have a minimum deposit required.
If you're looking for a savings account shop around a bit and see who offers the best interest rate so the money you put in the bank can grow a little bit more.
Good luck.

You need to be atleast 18 in order to open an account by your self if you have a joint owner of the account like a mother or a father you can open it before. You also need 2 forms of id like a drivers licence, passport and or student id, insurance card and your social security number.

I think you have to be 18 to open a bank account by yourself, or you are going to need your parents. As far as documents, you need your social and a government ID.

Call your bank -- I think you'll need someone to co-sign for you cuz you're not 18. You and your signer will both need social security numbers, photo id's and some cash for the intial deposit. Get a free account, one with no monthly or annual charges. Happy banking!

Visit the institution you want to bank with and ask them what amount is required to open an account and what I.D.
Then return with the cash (or better yet , cashiers check) and your ID to the institution you want to bank with .
