NO--sorry I don't agree. You can find your soul mate and lover and the one who makes you feel complete and still have Independence to an extent. It gives you someone to share your world and life with, it isn't all about sex either.
How much independence are you wanting? Being in love doesn't mean have other lovers.

I don't think love is over~rated. With out love, I could have the keys to paradise, and with out love, those keys would be entirely useless to me...
Independence is great, but I am not sure why you think you can't have love and a healthy amount of Independence... You can have both... And I am sure there are some people who can go with out really ever loving anyone, just not me!
Ooh! I disagree with the one above, S** is Great! Not over~rated at all... I guess this is what you make of it, and again personal preference...

No, because love is something that you can share with another. Yes, it is dangerous and quite frightening at times, but you can discover more about yourself through someone else.
Independence does give you power, to a certain extent. But there is a point when power is not enough. Companionship and love is more important than power in my book.

What an unusual question.
I do not see the connection.
If you think that love means you lose your independance and therefore power, you have an odd understanding of love.
You may be meaning that you desire to be with a person, therefore you have no power over this desire. That you must be with this person. But that is not love. That is dis-empowering.
You can have independance and love.
You can have your own power and love.
If you have no power and lose your independance when you are "loving" someone, that is not love.
That is "lust".
Lust has you in its power.
To love,
is not about lust,
sex,
desire,
have to be with that person,
must have......,
need...........,
own,
losing anything.
He must.........,
she must...............,
he/she is mine......................,
Love is not about ownership,
should..................,
have to..........,
If you are feeling these feelings, it is not love.
To love, is uplifting, kind, caring, unconditional, empowering, humbling, beautiful, soft, I can do anything feeling, happy, smiling like your mouth has a banana stuck in it,
Love is never over rated.
Love is the glue in this world.
Give love, don't expect love, love is not something you decide about, it happens when you are not looking.
Independance can be separation from love, which is not empowering at all.
So, no I don't agree with you one little bit.
I trust one day you will experience love, and will feel empowered and able to be independant from the one you love.
There are many many types of love, love of a friend, an object, parental love, family love, love a mother has for her child, a father for his child, love of what you are doing, a career, your spouse, a lover, a past lover, love for this moment, loving an aspect of nature.

Not at all. Love is great, if you are in love with a right person. Healthy love relationship is only possible between two independent people. So, two exist happily side by side in harmony. Don't lose all your hopes and dreams, if your relationship turn sour. You will find the right person one day, and you will know exactly what I am talking about. Good luck sweetheart.

Yes, sometimes we can go even further when we feel love for our love's one, or when we feel inlove, and can give us certain power. Independance can give us some kind of security, freedom, but until certain limit. It can give us the power to take decisions, and to decide what to do. Here enter our will to choose our own decisions, and desires.

Love is rated, as, what, the best thing there is? Of course, it's not over-rated. What's better than love? Have you ever been in love? If so, has anything else been better? Love facilitates great things. It's not just the subject in itself. Love is the predicate of many a good thing.

Are you talking about love or sex? Sex is definately overated, but if you have love with the right person nothing can replace it. It is true when people say money can't buy love. Great answer Kiera!
