I know that 300 is only very loosely based on a true story, but I watched it last night and I really loved the film. I don't even like films like that, yet I was riveted.

Okay, this is sappy, but it may well be "Titanic"! lol...so embarassing. As you know, I also like "Das Boot" quite a bit too. Another good one, which is actually Russian, is "Russian Ark." It's shot in one non-stop long take. No cuts at all, and it follows something like 400 years of Russia's history. It's set in one of Catherine the Great's palaces in St. Petersburg and everyone wears period costumes. It is quite haunting. Alas! I can't decide! On second thought, maybe it is "Russian Ark."

Patton mostly it is true to history and George C Scott gives a very powerful perfomance. Never get tired of that truly great movie.
