They make pretty good pets. Generally handlable and mellow.
They are easy to keep, most are docile, and they tend to be good eaters. They are a desert species, that will be able to live most, if not all, of it's life in a 20 gallon aquarium. The best thing to do is buy from a reputable breeder and ask a lot of questions.

Rosy boas usually make good pets. They're not a hyper snake, even as babies, which is a big plus.

You'll want to be sure to do plenty of reading on heat and humidity requirements, but if their environment is kept right, they rarely get sick. Also be sure that you know exactly how big your boa will get and plan to eventually put the money into buying or building a cage for that size. Never plan on getting a snake until it gets too big and then giving it away. Nobody wants large snakes - especially zoos. They have their hands full already.
