If you have Windows XP, you don't need software.
Just go to my computer. Click on tools, Folder options.
Select the View tab. Look in the box that says Advanced Settings. Look under the Hidden Files and Folders thing[the second folder icon in the box]. Select show hidden files and folders. Click ok. You should be back at my computer. It may take a while to show up, but when it does double-click the thing called [Your name]'s IP (F:). Then double-click the faded folder that's called iPod_Control. Double-click the faded folder called Music. Then you should see some more faded folders[or there may be only one, i'm not sure]. Double-click any of those folders and a list off songs will come up. Double click a song and will start to play on your computer. If you want the song saved to your computer, click the song once so it's highlighted. Then click Copy This File [that's under File and Folder Tasks, NOT under Music Tasks].
If you want more than one song, click each song you want once while pressing Ctrl. They should each highlight.
If you want every song, click the first song once and then scroll down and click the last song while pressing Shift. Then copy like before.
