You're right. If everyone who came from someplace else left then native Americans would be quite wealthy as well as not have enough population to occupy current homes, run businesses, etc.....

I don't think anyone belongs anywhere. Land never belongs to one race of people, the earth was made for the human race.

I think you're reading too much into it. From what I see people ask each other that as fodder to make smalltalk about. Myself as a white person ask that of other white people so I cannot see how it could come across as bigoted. What if you started talking to a foreign person with an accent? I tend to think you may mention it to perpetuate the conversation. I myself like meeting foreign people so I can broaden my perspectives and maybe get stuff answered about their country that I can't find out for sure on my own.

I think that is a function of America. I mean it makes sense when you consider the fact that most all of the population has immigrants in its family tree. In my own family, my father's family can be traced back to the Mayflower. But my mother's parents were immigrants.

Everyone born here or who has become a citizen belongs here.

This is a good question. I don't care where people come from. I am more concerned with how each individual conducts him/her self. I am mostly of German extraction, but I don't refer to myself as German/American. Why would anyone want to refer to themselves or have someone else refer them as African American or Mexican American or Japanese American. To me American works just fine. This also brings up the question of why any american would celebrate another nations Holidays ie: cinco di mayo?
