I actually kept a red devil, an oscar, and a spiny eel in a large tank for awhile. I had a sand bottom, and a small decoration in the tank. The eel mostly hid either in the sand or the decoration, and it was difficult to make sure he was fed. When I moved, the eel went MIA, and I had rehomed the oscar at the time, so I lay blame on the red devil.

Due to the fact it's hard to make sure the eels are eating/getting food, I would say no, not a good idea because oscars tend to be big pigs when it comes to food. I would suppose the oscar might eat it as well, but if they were both bought small and grew up together, I think it would be ok in that sense.

Simply put, not even another Oscar will do good with an Oscar. They're too territorial and it requires a lot of dedication to try and make cohabitation work. You have to constantly change decor to break-up territory, and even then it's not fully sure to work. Best you can do (because the peacock's will bury themselves) is have a good amount of gravel on the bottom and caves to hide in that the Oscar may not fit it. This will give you the best shot.

No way. I had one and my oscar ate him right away. No small or pretty fishies can survive an oscar. A good cleaning fish for an oscar tank is a plecosamus (sp?). Those big ugly sucker fish. They go their cleaning job and NO fish ever mess with their spiky backs.

Depends on the sizes or the two fish, but eventually... no.
