What's the best way to get rid of flies?

My place is full of freaking flies and I just want them to die!!! I have a fly swatter but it just isn't enough! I was thinking of either buying 20 venus fly traps and putting them on steroids, a.k.a, Miracle Gro; getting a vat of Raid and dousing my furniture, carpet, and walls in it; or just plain setting my place on fire. Can you think of a good way to get rid of flies????

You can kill them with a Fly trap:
Fill a quart jar with this mixture.
3 cups of water
¼ (one quarter) cup sugar
¼ (one quarter) cup white vinegar
Mix, punch holes in the lid, and set it where needed

Find the source that the fruit flies are going after & eliminate it if you can. It could be some fruit that's rotting somewhere on your property.

You can then use things that are said to repel flies.

Flies are attracted to fresh apple peelings.
Peel 2 or 3 apples; set the peelings just outside your door on a plate and open your door and keep it open with a rolled sock next to the hinge; the flies will soon smell the apple peelings and go straight for them. Give them about 15 minutes or so. Then shut the door, leaving them outside.

Then eat the apples.

Now that you've had your snack, check your home for any open cracks around the doors, pipes, exhaust systems, etc.
Seal them with weather stripping or duct tape, as necessary. Check and fix your window and door screens. Take out your garbage daily, as flies will breed in it otherwise. Scrub the toilet and bleach the drains once a week. This kills their larvae.

lol, i dont recomend setting your house on fire, OH&S reasons mainly, but it wont kill the flies, you need to make sure you have fly screens up on doors and windows, you can use sprays but these have harmful chemicals.
some herbs repel flies, pots of basil, rue, mint, pennyroyal, tansy, fennel or lavender placed around will shove em off, pinch the tops occasionally to let off the aromas.
rub doors and frames with lavender oils they hate it, rub windows with a damp cloth and kerosene, leave for 10 mintues then shine with a dry cloth.
house spiders are another option- arghhhhh
camphor fumes from a hot poker will clear a room of flies....

these are some suggestions, you can buy some hanging stickers, these have scents on them that attract flies and then they stick to the tape, this is an eyesore though! LOL.. good luck, i hate flies.

It depends if you have any kids or youths in your house, if you live alone or anything, it's deffenatly a good idea to do the spray trick but it isn't very healthy to do it if kids are around... And it'll be good to figure out waht is making the flies stay. If you find some old food (or anything), discard it and it might just shoo the flies away!

Go to a large animal veteriany and get some stuff called "dairy spray 2" Spray two "puffs" twice a day. It will kill the flies and it's safe for pets and humans. It works wonders.

Get fly paper and place some bacon flavoring or something to attract the flies and get 'em stuck on the paper, and yes, get Venus flytraps.
