It's how you use them that matters most. A small lie could be just as damaging (maybe even more so) than a huge lie (which some people may not even believe). However, sometimes telling a small white lie is much kinder than the brutal truth (it's an act of kindness). The Santa analogy is a great example of a huge lie (so to speak) with a positive purpose.

How you use them.

Tell a kid santa is real and that's a pretty big lie. You're inventing an imaginary man and telling stories that you know aren't true to make him believe. But it brings faith and hope and happiness and the child (though this is debatable) isn't all too harmed by it.

Tell people you were almost kidnapped by someone on your way to school as an excuse for being late (and it's happened) that's also a lie, a very big lie, like santa, except now the police get involved and things just get bigger and bigger.

I suppose it depends on who believes you, as well.

Oh, it's size, of course. Anyone who says it's the way you use them is just saying that because their lies are small!!

I think it depends on the situation.....if you lie to protect someone you care about then maybe it was the right thing to do and you'd probably get forgiven....but if you lie in order to hurt someone or to avoid responsibility for your actions then you're screwed....so i definitely think its based on the reason you lie....... because we're all the same on the fact that we all lie but the difference lies in the reason we lie

It's how you use them.
A lie can be enormous in size, but I can choose not to use it on anyone
other than myself. I can concoct devastating lies behind people's back
and tell them only to my mirror or my
pillow. It doesn't affect anyone due to its bulk or volume-but in its strategy
and method when actually applied.

I believe it's how you use them.

What if you use a small lie, to break two people up, break up a family, get somebody introuble or a little lie to get further in life. It can destroy lives and totally change everything. Just because it's a little lie doesn't mean it will have little side affects.

How you use lies matters more. Some lies are necessary.

It is who you are and who believes you; creditability is as much social as financial.
