I have about 5 outdoor toads living on my back porch. Some of them are big and the others are quite small. I think some of them are hungry, I was wondering what I can do to help them get food or if there is anything I may have in my home that I can lay out for them. Any suggestions? Oh and what happens to them in the winter? Thanks for any help!

Your toads are there because they are looking for the insects that are attracted to your lights. Your best bet to help them out is to leave your porch light on of an evening (although you will have lots of insects bombarding your house).

As for the winter time, the toads will burrow underground and hibernate.

sorry just had to comment, outdoor toads? as opposed to indoor ones? sorry, just struck me as amusing.

the big ones are probably older, if you want to have some fun did earth worms and lay them on the patio where the toads can see them then hold really still and the toads will come get the worms. also if you take some clay pots and lay them on there sides partially buried in the dirt the toads may take shelter in them during the heat of the day

They like worms and beetles and grubs. They prefer their food to be alive and moving. I don't think left over burger bits or anything like that would interest them. In the winter they go under the leaves and humus and hibernate.

You can make a home for toads.

Don't spray for insects or treat the lawn with any pesticide.
