last week i farted at a restaurant and about 10 people looked at me and i said what the ****. i should be able to fart at my own table in a public place without being criticized. i even get looked at in the bathroom. is it because i fart too loud. i have no idea?

Personally, I find it hilarious when people fart. I remember I was at the library once and the old man next to me farted three times in a row! I could not stop laughing! I felt kind of bad, but it was dead silent in the library and all of a sudden I hear a fart. I do see how people do find it rude when you fart in a restaurant; some people lose their appetites and find it disgusting. Who cares if you fart in the bathroom?! Where else are you supposed to relieve yourself?! I find it funny when people fart in the bathroom too. They might look at you because it smelt. I would have been kind of disgusted, but also laughing at you.

There is a place and time for everything and a restaurant is not the right place and it's not even remotely funny- bathroom or any other room that you are in ALONE is - what you do about it from there is up to you. How would you like it if someone just "crapped" in your dinner plate, because that is pretty much what you have just done --- your GROSS and very inconsiderate of others! You have no right to be in a public place!

It is not only rude, but it just shows how immature that you are. Do you want to appear that way to people? Grow up!
I have mixed feelings about passing gas in a public restroom. If you are standing by the sinks raising your butt cheek and forcing it out, then it is wrong. If you are in a stall then it really isn't totally rude. It is always more polite to hold it until you are alone in the rest room if at all possible.

Passing gas/wind either from the mouth or rear end is not the issue. That is a normal occurrance in every single living creature on this planet due to the gasses that are built up in the digestive process. If we didn't do that, we would eventually explode. Certain foods cause that worse than others due to their component breakdowns, for example beans in humans and clovers in cows. To prove that, they did an experiment on cows and actually lit the gas released from them with a match and it burned for 15 seconds if all they ate was clover grasses. But be that as it may, it isn't that we do it, it is the MATURITY LEVEL that we are at when it happens. Notice I didn't say 'age level' since there are some pretty immature adults out there and some very mature children. Our maturity level makes us become curteous towards others and their feelings and emotions. Our freedoms and rights to do and live as we please only goes as far as making sure that those freedoms and rights that we exhibit DO NOT infringe upon the freedoms and rights of others as well.
An example of this is the 'no smoking' laws that are now in effect across the country. Those laws aren't trying to make it hard for smokers but due to the risk and health factors that smoking causes, it is a law that just has to be imposed. No one is saying that they cannot smoke. It is their choice to smoke and choose if they want to heed the danger signs of cigarettes. In some smokers that is never a problem anyway. BUT because their IS a risk, their freedoms and rights to smoke cannot cross the line for someone else's freedoms and rights to stay away from those dangers, especially people with lungs problems already. Therefore, they are now learning to be curteous to the rights of others that find smoking offensive in a public place due to their own rights not to be exposed to the dangers of it. Smokers can feel free to smoke in their own homes and designated places everywherer they go as long as it isn't harming the rights of others. Non smokers then can go into the smokers area as they so choose and by their own rights to be with the smokers rather than having it forced on them as it used to be.
I am sure that if you are even questioning this situation that you are not being curteous and even offering an appology or an 'excuse me' as is the curteous way to act in public. Most people know when they are going to pass gas or burp. Mature people take actions to do it as unnoticed as possible and always pardon themselves out of curteousy. Immature people make it more obnoxious and go out of their way to be rude about it. Which one are you?

This is the second fart question I've answered today.I think farts are funny and if I were sitting in a restaurant and someone farted I wouldn't be able to stop myself from laughing. Farts will be funny forever. The sound of them and people's reactions crack me up. Ha!

People like you are the reason that they have sneeze guards on salad bars and "Shirt and Shoes Required" signs. Some people may not find your particular brand of humor funny. You've probably made a few people lose their appetites. Put yourself in their shoes and make more of an effort to stifle your gas. It's disgusting.

You can fart at your own table in your own home. It is nasty to be trying to enjoy your meal and have someone fart and stink up the area.
