1*1 = 1
2*2 = 4
3*3 = 9
4*4 = 16

The next term is 25 (5*5)

Alternatively you could look at the differences between adjacent terms:

9 - (9-4) = 5
16 - (16-9) = 7

3, 5, 7 - consecutive odd numbers. The next difference should be 9, and 16+9 = 25.

Hi.I will help you. In the above case the next number must be 25. It is the addtition of the consecutive odd numbers. I will show you how. when you add 1 and 3 we get 4. Here 3 is the odd number. in the next sequence, when we add 4 and 5 we get 9. here 5 is the odd number. IN the first one, we added 3 and now 5 and later 7 and 11 and so forth. i will solve some for you. 1,4,9,16,25,36,49,64,81,100,121,144,169.

It is increasing in odd number increments, 3 then 5 then 7, and so on.
