Dobermans???

Question

Do they put rods in doberman ears? we got his ears cropped and the vet that taped they ares didnt clean them and one ear is ok, but the other hangs a little because when it got infected it was bleeding and he kept putting it back.... I dont want rods in them i am just wondering i heard a rumor of it...
I think it would be kind of cruel.. but anyways help if possible, i would like his ears to both stand, or none, but the other is straight up.

I have it taped, i was just wondering about it. i think it will stand just not sure

If he's still a pup and they are taped properly, there is still a chance they will stand. The taping should not be tight, and it should be changed at least once a week to check for irritation. There are implants that can be put in ears to help stand, but I've never seen it done. Just keep the ears taped until they are standing on there own with no sign of drooping at all. At the first sign of drooping, tape immediately.

I dont even know where to begin on this issue,the rods go against the ear and tape is wrapped around it, the rods are a support,not a surgery(at least in Canada it isnt) www.dobermanclub.org will explain taping for you in detail :)

No, they don't put rods in, they just cut part of the ear off. So, there's no way to put the ear that's up back down, so you might be stuck. You should have left both of his ears down, they're cuter that way.

try retaping his ear but put something hard to hold it up around the tape vet should tell you how to do this and also my friend had that problem with her dobie but the ear didnt stand after trying so she went to the vet with him and they put a stitch to hold up ear good luck

having the dogs ears cropped is cruel let alone putting rods in it, thank god its banned here
