My family and I recently purchased a new house- the previous owner had a cat that liked to use the linoleum by the front door as a toliet. It reeks of urine- that was the only problem with the house, and it was otherwise fine. We think its soaked in, because no matter how hard we scrub it still kind of smells. Help?

I have had this happen in a bathroom. We tried everything including all of the over the counter pet smell removers in the pet store. Nothing worked because it wasn't just the floor it had seeped into the walls as well. We finally tore out the bathroom drywall and redid the walls, and flooring. It sort of worked but you still get a wiff once in a while. Cat piss is the worst! I am afraid that there is no quick fix!

Vinegar. It works in rugs, also. Use it full strength and if it might have run under the linoleum, you might need to lift the toilet to treat the wood. We discovered that first the vinegar and then pine oil cleanser like straight Pine-Sol removed the stench from wood under some same circumstances.

And there is always replacing the linoleum if you can afford it.

i have used hyrdogen peroxide let it soak and foam then mop it back up rinse then use bleach mop again then lemon juice ( you have to get a big jar of lemon juice like at adli's for 2.00) let the lemon juice set on it for about 1/2 hour then mop it up then you should be able to mop as usual. my sister had a dogs that got skuned she used a mixture of peroxide ,baking soda and lemon juice needless to say the dogs didnt like the bath but she sure smelled a lot better so i figure if it works on skunk it should work on floor and it did good luck.

Try Nature's Miracle - from the pet store. It's for pet urine.

Take it up. Clean the floor underneath and put down new.
