So I'm planning to get an iguana very soon.
I want my iguana to like me, and I really don't want it to be scared of me. I'm sure some of you people on here have one, and have expierience with them..

so I am here asking, once I get my iguana.. what should I do with him? Leave him alone for awhile? hm?

Give him a week or two to adjust to his new home and when he is eating well, begin gentle handling for only a few minutes a couple of times a day. As he tames down, gradually increase handling times. Some ig's are naturally more feisty than others, and even tame igs will lash their tails when first approached. Just be very patient! Remember, during breeding season personality can really change, so be aware! :)

The most important thing when handling an iguana is patience. Put your hand in there living quarters for awhile, show them your not out to hurt them. They will see you as a giant predator for quite some time. My iguana is still getting used to me and it's been awhile. We've made a lot of progress and he's really enjoyable. So, just take things slow, and your iguana will warm up to you. Don't get frustrated, it just takes time.

When you first get him/her, introduce it to it's tank and leave him/her alone for about a week. Don't do anything except change the food &water and make sure the temp and lighting is good. After about a week you can begin handling him/her and enjoy each others company! Start off with about 15-20 minutes a day and increase gradually as it becomes more comfortable with being handled.

I wouldn't handle him for at least a week so he can get used to his new tank. If you handle him to soon it will just stress him out.
