can a coolmaster M-500 (from newegg.com) hold a quadcore q6600 which draws 105watts or 95watts depending on stepping and a bfg 7900gs which draws 350watts on 22 amps along with a 7200rpm hard drive and a dvd driver as well as all those computer fans inside...?

The 7900GS is just a 45 watter and draws about 4 amps on the +12V rail. What retailers are saying is that it needs to work on a PC w/ at least a 350 watt power supply. I believe you are referring to the Coolmax M-500. It has 350W output on its dual +12V rails. It is more than enough for your requirement and should run pretty cool and stable all day long.

There is NO graphics card yet that draws 300 watts or higher. The monster cards, like ATI HD2900 XTX (OEM) draws 270W and Geforce 8800 Ultra draws 163W.

It will barely hold on... Go for the dual core or get something better than this psu. It seems this psu has a short span of life with loud fan noise. Go to http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/search.php?searchid=21262 and read some of this guy's reviews. It will help you to choose the right power supply.
