What is an E.P.? Is a short rare cassette tape also an E.P. .... or would it be considered something else, since it's a cassette and not a vinyl album?

Ok thanks evry1. here's the thing. I'm trying to list a ' 5 song Demo Cassette Tape thats Out of Print' on Ebay.

What would I list this as?? The only info I can find online, has this cassette noted as an E.P., but they must be referring to a vinyl of the same Demo??

What would my cassette be classified as then? An S.P. , as noted by on of the answers here?

Thanks again!! ;)

Extended play (EP) is the name typically given to vinyl records or CDs which contain more than one single but are too short to qualify as albums. Usually, an album has eight or more tracks (anywhere between 25–80 minutes), a single has one to three (up to 10 minutes) and an EP four to seven (or around 10–25 minutes).

****Edit: Hi! I don't think it's a hard and fast rule.. rather one that evolved as a term of convenience, necessity and/or practicality. I would just call it an EP Demo Cassette. People will know what you mean and if they have a question... they'll ask!
Good luck!

EP means Extended Play. Back in the days of discs...a 45 speed had 2 sides. The hit side and the flip side. Then they introduced Eps, which could fit 2 tracks on each side. The Beatles had lots of Eps, because they had so many hits all at the same time. I never heard of a cassette being called an EP, I guess because a cassette is usually longer. Maybe you could call it an SP. ie: Short Play.
