Sad memories. Being alone and feeling lonely. Missing my children and my grandchildren. Missing my dead parents and my half-brother. Too many unsurmountable problems. Sad movies. Little things, big things that touch the core of my being- my too sensitive self. All these make me cry. Sometimes I cry too for no apparent reason, like feeling self-pity all of a sudden.

You will understand that there are very different reasons people cry. A 5 year old girl cries for very different reasons versus myself, a 75 year old woman.

I am still healthy but I do not kid myself that I will have less years on earth than most of you who are reading it. Thus, I get misty eyed mostly for the little joys that come my way everyday. They are blessings and I do count all my blessings since they will come to me only for the next few years.

When my children and grandchildren ask me to join them to go to the theater, I cry because of happiness. I know that teeners nowadays would rather be with their friends and are rarely seen with their Lola. So when one of my grandchildren asked me out on a date I was floored.

Even when my "most difficult" grandchild would make lambing and ask me for additional "baon" because his dad is disciplining him, I am thrilled to be the accomplice and I give him supplemental allowance, and I get 10 kisses!

I do not cry about problems. I have cried a river when I was young. Now I cry for joy.

I'm a high school teacher. I cry at band concerts. I never fail to be deeply touched by the kids who give me so much grief in class, yet, once or twice a year, manage to play the sweetest music I've ever heard.

A missing child later found dead. ( I have 2 babies of my own so I understand how that would feel.)
Losing a close friend or relative.
Witness a tragic accident where people suffer and die.
I hate to see people grieve and mourn so bad over a loss of a loved one. It does not matter if i know you or not, I can feel the grief.
Saying good bye to someone on their dying bed and listening to their last words.
People who I know were good hard working people at one time and then the pressures of life turned them into careless drug addicts and prostitutes.
There are many more.

Anger.

No seriously! I don't cry when I'm sad, but when something makes me extremely angry, the tears start falling. Literally "naiyak sa galit" (cried with anger).

When all else fails a GOOD cry gets rid of all of the junk that needs getting rid of...
So what gets my tears flowing:
1) Death
2)feeling overwhelmed
3) this is the one that sends me over the edge... being MISUNDERSTOOD
