Took some wheaties to my coin shop a few weeks ago to ask what they were currently paying for them. I was told about 2 cents each was all. If the coins are in extremely good condition they could go for more.

The best way to find out the value of your coin is to take it to a coin dealer. So much of value depends on the condition of your coin. A dealer should be able to tell you a lot more about the coin by being able to see and handle the actual piece.

The 1944 had a mintage of 1,435,400,000 so it is far from scarce. The 1949 is lower but also not very scarce, it had a mintage of 217,775,000. Either one can be found in a dealers wheat cent box for 3 to 5 cents each. Even in mint state they are worth only a few dollars. They do get rarer in real high mint state grades but these coins are not often seen and would most likely, not be picked up in change. The 1944 cent has more value as a historic item then a monetary one. A lot happened in 1944 during World war II.

I am a coin dealer. They are worth two cents each.

Unless they look brand new, and I mean untouched than that is all they are worth. :-)

According to http://www.bestcoin.com/lincoln-cents-1.htm they are worth less than $1 each, unless they are "almost uncirculated" which means that they have no visible wear.
