I suggest removing the deck and acessing the situation. More then likely the quill assembly ( deck spindle assy) will need replacing ( around $60 and up) along with a new blade- might as well change them all and have all new ones ( around $15 a piece), make sure the other blades rotate smoothly and no wobbles - if it does - its bent and needs changing as well. Taking shortcuts on a cutting deck isnt recommended- do it once and do it right. Regular inspections and maintenece are reccomended as well - at least once a season, for inspection and cleaning, twice or more is preferred- and will save money in the long run.

You will need to lift the mower up to see under the deck to determine what may have broken or come loose to let the blade come off like it did.
The bolt that holds the blade on may have loosened and fallen out. Since it sounds like the other blade turns o.k. maybe you were lucky and no other damage occurred.
You should be able to buy a new bolt and washer at the hardware or home improvement store and you may need a new blade too. Take the old one with you and they should be able to sell you the right type and size. Depending on the size of the blade it might cost $15-$50 plus a few dollars for the bolt.
If the blade hit something like a pipe or big rock and the pulley shaft broke then you are looking at similar costs for a new pulley.
There could be more damage under the deck, but it would need to be looked at to know for sure.

I think that the mower deck needs to come off and be inspected for damage. It could be that the blade just came off but that it rare. The bolt could come loose but the blade would just be free of the shaft. It could be that the shaft on the quill broke. I would take the deck off, clean it up and check all the parts for damage. Blades are cheap, the quill or spindle that runs it cost from $50 to $100. If you are not sure about damage, have someone look at it that knows. You don't want steel blades flying around loose.

Depends. There is a threaded stud that blade attaches to underneath usually reverse threaded. If that is not broken either find the blade or go to lowesand get another for about $20.00 or so. You will also need to invest in a nut with a lock washer so it won't happen again.
Conversely if the stud is broken off it could become spendy and depending on the age and kind of mower you might think about trading it in.
Good Luck

When you replace the blade make sure the bolt is tight or to spec, check your manual and be sure, watch those blades, hope this helps.

i had the deck on mine too low one time (and one time only) and ran over a tree root and bent a blade all to pretzels and gone...i simply got a replacement and put it on and now it works great. don't count your damages too soon. it may not be as bad a you think. OR it could be bad very bad.
