Air is not a liquid; it's a fluid.

Air is a gas. Since (in Earth's atmosphere) it is about 78% nitrogen, it would (mostly) become a liquid at about -320 degrees F. It would freeze into a solid at about -346 degrees F. The rest of the stuff in the atmosphere has similar freeze/melting/boiling points. All matter can be in a solid/liquid/gas phase.

As far as the air being a lot of things, think of a rock. When you look at it, it may be mostly shale, but there will almost always be a little bit of lime stone or granite, or something else mixed in. It just so happens that all of these things have close (relatively) "freezing" points, at which they become solid. If you think about it, it will blow your mind.

Air is a gas, it is not made up mostly of oxygen as somebody said. Air is made up of approx. 80% Nitrogen. Anyway, air has about 20 different chemicals in it. At freezing the H2O in the air freezes and forms a liquid (rain) or solid (snow), But if you have air, it is a gas. Air itself will never be anything besides a combination of gases.

No it is a gas but the components of it can become liquid at cold enough temperatures, and all components have a different temperature at which they become liquid
