my husband and i bought tickets for my brother and his g.f. to see a concert which is his favorite band ever ! the plan was to get the two of them to take off work about 2-3 days and drive here- which is 7 hrs. away. we werent going to tell him what we were planning til he arrived and then drop the huge surprise. the tickets are already bought for the concert which is a month away. we spent about $200 on tickets for us 4. i told my brother yesterday that he needed to get off to come here and he would love it. i talked to him today and he said his g.f. wont be able to come b/c of college starting back. he still doesnt know if he can get off. i told him to do whatever necessary. he wanted to know what it was and i wont tell. he guessed a concert to see the band and i denied it. my ? is this. should i just go ahead and tell him the plan and ruin the surprise effect now that i'm uncertain if he can come or mail the tickets to him and salvage some surprise ? or tell him over the phone ?help

if i tell him it will spoil the surprise, but if i dont then he may not push hard enough to get off to even come.

i think u should tell him because then he will take it importantly. i mean if u said just come and visit then it is like he can visit u all the time....but if u tell him then he would understand because concerts are not everyday.

I think since he lives so far away and would have to take off from work to come, it would be wise to either tell him or send him the tickets....

Maybe wrap them up in a special box with all the trimmings. Then Priority Mail them to him with insurance and confirmation of delivery too... You won't get to share the surprise but I bet he will call you within seconds of opening the gift to thank you! And the second part of the surprise can be you and your husband sitting next to him when he goes to the concert......

You could mail them to him...that would be some surprise, but if he can't come what will you do?? The tickets will go to waste?

Maybe tell him over the phone that it was supposed to be a surprise and you did your best - but it was the thought that counts.??

Is there any chance he will come if he knows it is for his fav band? Maybe he can get a male buddy to travel out to see the band.

I think it was a great idea and he will be happy that you thought of him that way. I would tell him and NOT mail them, because they could get lost in the mail and THEN WHAT?? You'd be out the money and the tickets.

Best of luck!

well, it seems as if he already has an idea of whats going on.. i would just tell him so he can make sure he gets the days off, or if he cant you can do something else with the tix. I know you wanted to totally surprise him, but he will get super happy anyway! sometimes surprises dont work as expected..specially when people live so far away!
so just tell him and have a blast! btw, what band are u talking about?? (just being a lil nosy)

The surprise would be fun but the intent of the gifts was for him to see the concert. It may be easier for him to get off if he has a real legit reason.

Have a great time.

I think you should mail him a copy of the tickets and just let him know that a suprise and why he needs to come to your town is in the mail. So that way you have suprised him but it is just a little earlier than expected. Hope that helps! =o)

I would tell him at this point he already knows something is up. you are already out the money for the G/F.

If he doesn't take off, when you told him all that... is it really worth it to get worked up?
