"They say they stand for upholding the law but they don't enforce it."

sounds like republicans, they have been in power for years and have ignored illegal immigration and not enforced it...

"They say they stand for diversity but they don't like you if you don't agree with their beliefs"

once again, the pot is calling the kettle black -- except for the diversity part, diversity is a direct threat to the conspiracy...

And as for freedom,
as a hard-core liberal,
I say smoke to your heart's content, just don't make me breathe the smoke. And give me a gun. I love guns, but get them out of the hands of the criminals who hold up your grandmothers on the way home from the conservative rally.

Support strict interpretation of the Constitution and stay out of our bedrooms and leave me alone about religion and morality that is related to it. Oh yeah, who is restricting liberty by trying to maintain the Christian agenda averse to other religions?

Let's have true freedom and less attempts at control from either side.

I am an Independent and detest as much about the Dems as the Reps.

conservative and liberal are just tags to mark each other's sheep for the slaughter and feast they prepare every time you support their polarizing agendas.

Webster's dictionary defines liberalism as "a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of man, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties."

As George McGovern wrote: "Virtually every step forward in our history has been a liberal initiative taken over conservative opposition: civil rights, Social Security, Medicare, rural electrification, the establishment of a minimum wage, collective bargaining, the Pure Food and Drug Act, and federal aid to education, including the land-grant colleges, guaranteed bank deposits, the Federal Reserve, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Park Service, the National School Lunch Program, the Voting Rights Act, and the graduated income tax. Many of these innovations were eventually embraced by conservatives only after it became clear that they had overwhelming public approval for the simple reason that almost every American benefited from them. Every one of these liberal efforts strengthened our democracy and our quality of life....

Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Henry Wallace, Adlai Stevenson used the instruments of government to benefit the citizenry of America, and they also understood that America had responsibilities to the rest of the world..

In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson wrote of "a decent respect to the opinions of mankind." And Abraham Lincoln said of this founding document that it "gave liberty not alone to the people of this country, but hope to all the world, for all future time." Liberal ideas, in other words, have informed American politics from Jefferson to Lincoln, and we are no less in need of the vitality and redeeming strength of the liberal spirit today...

The genius of American politics has always been the creative tension between our two great political philosophies, liberalism and conservatism. If either of these traditions is diminished, the American nation is diminished."

Very few liberals west of Boston wants guns banned. My state is not liberal and smoking has been banned in public places. And conservatives are a whole hell of a lot nastier than liberals if you disagree with them on ANY issue. And it only takes one. And in the last 7 years NOBODY in congress has tried to enforce the laws. They have just passed new ones that won't be enforced. So take your conservative, fact less rant down the road, bozo.

You can't pin a label on a Liberal balloon or bubble. It always bursts. No matter if you try to pin it down, it escapes, flees, and will eventually deflate, to be pumped up again by some hot-aired idealist. There's not much substance to them, obviously.
Conservatives, on the other hand, are like rocks. While they make a good foundation, don't try to take one swimming with you, or flying...they'll just hold you back, drag you down, and eventually choke the fun out of everything, and make you stumble over any progress you'd hoped to make.
Can anyone say ' balance ' ?

I propose only bans on automatic weapons and want to restrict sales to people that should not carry a firearm. I could care less if YOU smoke, but keep that **** away from me, it kills.

They say they stand for diversity but they don't like you if you don't agree with their beliefs
Really? So your stalking me then? There is no other reason that you could possibly know what I stand for or who I do or don't like.

Cons are pretty good at banning stuff they don't like too (abortion, pornography).
When did a con like someone who disagreed with thier beliefs? Was it just before they labelled all liberals brain damaged traitors?

Before trying to oversimplify the other side in order to prove a cheap point it is best to have a look at how the same argument would work against you.

Liberals stand for honesty and integrity in government.

Liberals stand for supporting labor unions and worker's rights.

Liberals stand for opposing wars such as the one in Iraq that never needed to be fought and that we, as a nation, were lied into by a crooked Neo Con Administration.

Liberals stand for defending the Constitution.

Liberals stand for defending our porous borders rather than tilting windmills in Iraq.

Liberals support our efforts in Afghanistan.

Liberals pay more than lip service to supporting our vets as evidenced by Liberal efforts to improve the VA.

Why do Conservatives have the mindset that they will support a crooked Neo Con ideology instead of acknowledging reality?

I live in Ann Arbor MI now--a very liberal town, which has not banned guns nor smoking.

All those bans in NY regarding smoking, cell phone use, etc. happened through republican leaders.

They must be a product of the "ME" generation. They only care about what they can have, not about other countries problems. They just want to seal off America so they can be alone with the other ME's.
