I'd like to get a list together of Latin songs or Latin-themed songs that became popular in the US. Not stuff by Ricky Martin and other American singers, mind you. I'm looking for stuff that resembles salsa, rumba, other Latin styles but for one reason or another became a hit in the US. An example would be "Tequila" or something to that effect.

To clarify, I'm not looking for current singles or US artists recording in Spanish. I'm looking for old school classics, one hit wonders, stuff you hear every now and then but EVERYBODY knows when it comes on. And I agree, the Macarena should be banned for life!

Suavemente by Elvis Crespo
La Vida es un Carnival by Celia Cruz
Fever by La Lupe
A Puro Dolor by Son by 4
I like it Like That - Tito Nieves (although original by Peter Rodriguez)
LLororas - Oscar de Leon
Pedro Navaja - Ruban Blades
Un Beso - Grupo Mania

These are ones I can think of off the top of my head. They are pretty much either considered classics or at least very reconizable.

Look for cds of Jennifer Pena. Her Latin songs and her English ones, too, are excellent! I have her first alboum and I have her life one, which came with a dvd. You might think the songs were salsa. But each cd has a mixture of latin and English. I wish I could see her perform in my city. Or even meet her.
