My sister in law had these wierd alien looking bugs in her basement--we did not know what they were. She emailed Orkin abd described the bug....they emailed her back the answer and how to kill it without having to call an exterminator. Flower girl gave you a great answer, too. I probably would start with her suggestion--it sounds easier and quicker, but if that does not work, ask a popular exterminating company. Good luck.

It could be a brown tail moth caterpillar. They are quite hairy and the hairs are an irritant. If you have a pet cat ensure it does not go near it.

Sounds like a caterpillar of some sort, your description is pretty vague though, what shape is it. How many legs?

Your description is a little too vague. How big is it? How many legs does it have? Does it have wings? Is it long or short? Does it have antennae?
