A standard 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheet of typing paper has 66 lines (or 6 lines per inch lengthwise), single spaced. For your letter, you can use the BLOCK style (every line starts at the left margin--usually 1 inch) or MODIFIED BLOCK (each paragraph starts 5 spaces in from the margin). With a 1 inch top margin, put the name of the business on line 7 or 8 (depending on if the address is 2 lines), but make sure the date is on line 10 from the top. Skip 4 lines and start the customer's address (start line 14)--usually 3 lines (zip code goes on the SAME line as the state, as in TOWN, STATE 12345 with 2 spaces between the state and 1st number). The greeting--whether "To whom it may concern," "Dear Miss Jones," or "Dear Mr. Smith",followed by a COLON but without the quote marks--goes on line 18. Skip 2 more lines, and start the body of the letter (line 20). DOUBLE SPACE between paragraphs. The ending--"Sincerely yours"--is 2 lines below end of last paragraph. Skip another 4 lines and TYPE your name. In the white space between the ending and your typed name, sign your name IN INK.
If your letter is only 1 page long, it should end at least by line 60--leaving a 1 inch margin on the bottom. If a second page is required, stop at line 60 regardless on page 1 (which is NOT numbered),and for second page, put a centered "--2--" on line 7, skip 2 lines and start the second page on line 9.
Do the ending then, as above (start 2 lines after last line of last paragraph), etc.

and others that were similar to it.
Good luck :)
