I think it was 2 different needles. my son did great, wasn't at all grumpy. he slept 21 hours that day....which was actually great. I gave him some tylenol as soon as we left the office to prevent anything from happening, he was asleep before we got in the car. all babies are different, just be prepared for extra crankiness, that should be the worst of it. oh an don't give the tylenol before. the doctor can't give vaccinations if the baby is sick or has a fever, tylenol will mask any of this.

She may be a little cranky and feverish for a day or two at the most. It usually can be kept under control with Tylenol. Not every baby has reactions, either. Some don't have any reacton - ever, some only get them at the 6 month vaccines. There's no rhyme or reason or guarantee.
As far as separate injections - that depends on your pediatrician. My office uses Pediarix - which is a combination of DPT (diptheria, tetanus, pertussis), IPV (polio), and Hepatitis B -into one vaccine. That's given with a separate Prevnar (pneumococcal meninigitis) and a HiB (H. Influenzae B) shot. Most pediatricians have been using this combo for about the last two years, but there are still some old school doctors who don't use it.
I'd advise you to call and ask the staff so you're prepared. Good luck and have a nice vacation!

I was fully prepared for the worst day and night of our lives when Lucy had her 2 month vaccinations. We bought baby Tylenol, I scheduled work around it but to my surprise nothing happened. She was upset at the doctors for about 10 minutes and then she went on with her day normally. I do know it is different for every baby. My god son slept for a long period of time to the extent his mother got a little freaked out but everything was fine.
They do use separate needles for each vaccinations and the roto virus vaccination is given orally....I think that was the first thing Lucy had ever tasted other than breast milk so it was kind of fun to see her reaction!
The doctor will also tell you how much Tylenol to give them if they need it and will prepare you for anything that could happen! Good luck!

I think it's worse on the moms than the little ones..I just had my 4th baby and the shots are separate..usually 2 in one leg and one in the other..give tylenol or whatever you use to her about 25 minutes before the shots. They usually cry for a bit then it's over and off to sleep they go...I give my girls tylenol for 24 hrs after shots then they are fine..so you should be good to go for the vacation..just keep an eye on her for a few days..have a great time

well it's 5 vaccines but only 3 needles. my son cried for about 3 minutes and then stopped and they did not botehr him again i gave him.4 ml of infant tylenol as per the doc says. she should not be still soar. my son got his 4 month shots yesterday and he was fine wheni got home, they weren't even sore. it was sad though because they have me hold his hands while a nurse hold his feet and the other nurse would stick him with the needle, he would try to jerk away screaming

Give your baby some panadol about half an hour prior to vaccinations it will help with the fever and not to mention the pain.
My kids have been completly fine the next day you would never know it happened.
Try not to get upset (so hard not to) coz the baby will sense it.
I live in Australia and it is 3 needles. 2 in one thigh and 1 in another and if your baby is born aftert he 1st of may they now give an oral for Gastro. (my baby missed out by 6 weeks :( )

When my son got his, there was 1 that was mixed. All together he was pricked 3 times. he cried sooo much, and slept the rest of the day. The next day he was fine. We got lucky because everyone was telling me that "he wont sleep, he will be VERY sore" and blah blah blah. Our son was none of that. The first day he got tylenol to rid of the pain, but the second day he was fine. He took a few warm baths which seemed to relax him. I also put a cool washcloth on his legs too because he started to swell a little, and this took the swelling away, and the pain.

As I recall, seperate needles. Give her some Tylenol ahead of time. She will probably do better than you. She should be over it by the time you go on vacation.

my daughter just got hers this past monday. she cried of course and it was all seperate needles. she slept most of the day and ran a little fever. after a couple of days she was back to her normal self. i think i was more of a basket case than she was, it hurt me to watch her cry so hard when she didn't understand what was happening.
