Hey, any helpful ideas on how to really keep a good clean house with out having to do it all at once. Like what do other people do to maintain a tidy home? I am so overwhelmed by life, that I feel that I am slipping in my housework.

This site has saved my home. I am so bad at keeping up with things and this site really kicked my butt into gear and it's not like to do it all at once.. start out with every night "shining your sink" meaning put the dishes away and wipe down all your sinks before you go to bed.. that's how I started and it starts to spread to the counters and stuff because you see how nice it looks. Also take only 15 minutes a day and just go through and put stuff away and throw things out. 15 minutes isn't long and you will be amazed at how much you get done!!!

Good luck! This really worked for me I am a single mom who works 6 days a week.. so it's hard for me to just come home and clean.

You need to reduce your clutter to a minimum. If you have alot of knick-knacks either get rid of some or pack some up and rotate your stuff. When you walk into your home trash or recycle all junk mail and put important mail on your desk or wherever you put it.You need to use a file system for this.A place for bills, letters you need to respond to,important papers to file,etc....If you have small children only allow one toy in the den at a time.Enlist the help of others living in your home.Even small children can help out doing simple things. Place dirty dishes directly in the dishwasher. It doesn't take any more time to put them in the dishwasher than it does to put them in the sink.Take 15 or 20 minutes to tidy up everyday.Get a phone with a headset, you can clean and talk on the phone at the same time.Make sure that each person is responsible for cleaning up after themselves.Don't try to do it alone if there is someone to help you. Before bed everyone needs to pick up.Before leaving in the morning everything needs to be picked up.If everyone gets up 10-15 minutes earlier there will be plenty of time to do this and it will relieve alot of stress when returning home in the evening. Hope some of this helps.

I get up in the morning and I have a basic routine... * I go into the bathroom and I wipe the sink/toilet/countertops with anitbacterial wipes from Lysol and give the mirror a once over.. After my shower I spray the tub/tile surround with 50/50 bleach/water... I then vacuum the livingroom/diningroom/office BEFORE the kids get there toys out and I spritz the furniture with Febreeze... I'll start a load of laundry and prepare breakfast for the kids... While they are eating I'll unload the dishwasher and load again with dirty dishes.. I'll wipe the countertops with an antibacterial wipes and when the kids are done I load their dishes and wipe down highchairs... While they play I strip the beds and air them out.. Put the load of laundry in the dryer and remake the beds.. I vacuum and then wipe down the tub/tile surround... After dinner- my husband will occupy the kids while I load dishwasher, clean countertops w/ spray and sweep/mop floor... I'll grab the laundry- start another load to soak overnight.. Put the dishwasher on time delay to go off around 4am and pick up the kids toys and straighten the livingroom.... I collapse and go to bed... I just started a new job at night so my "routine' may change a bit.. It just works for me and my home is clean and tidy.... Good luck

I clean for a living. Always start from top to bottom. (Like cobwebs and stuff up high to baseboards below.) I take a basket and remove everything out of the room that doesn't belong there. Then dust and vacuum and mop. Go from room to room like that and then sort out the stuff in the basket and put it where it goes. I play my favorite music to make it more fun. I always throw out junk mail right when I get it because it can accumulate quickly and cause clutter.
