I went to have my hormones tested, and when the doc called, she said my lutenizing hormone was up which indicated ovulation...

I had sex the night before the test, and then not again til 6 days later (husband out of town)

We are TTC, and I'm about to go on medication to regulate my ovulation and menstruation.. but how likely is it I was ovulating at the time of intercourse... or within 72 hours before or after intercourse?

I obviously need to wait and find out if I'm pregnant before I start the medication.. I'm just wondering if anyone knows the duration of elevated lutenizing hormone... so I don't get to excited that I might be...

LH reaches its peak about 36 hours before ovulation but the level is usually somewhat elevated for about 2-3 days total before ovulation.
However, just because your LH was high on one test does not indicate ovulation. If you aren't having regular cycles and your LH tested high then it is more likely that you have an underlying condition causing your LH to be consistantly high, such as: Premature menopause, Turner Syndrome, PCOS, Thyroid disease, Adrenal Disease, ovarian tumor.
The most likely cause is PCOS, do you have any of the other symptoms of PCOS, such as weight gain, hair loss, male pattern hair growth--chin, face, breats?
