Cam Belts changed, oil change, glow plugs changed. It took 24 hours for the mechanic to do this job, which had been previously quoted 3 hours. Total cost £350.00 and no invoice?
I paid cash too, what can I do? Is this too expensive? Help I need the advice. Thanks!

I would say this is about on the money for a pajero...cambelt changes are notoriously expensive. I would go back and ask for the invoice though, in case something goes wrong with the work (ie. if they messed up and the cambelt later snaps prematurely....your car will be a write off. If its a main dealer, you will usually be protected against the consequences of cambelt failure up to 1 year afterwards. Best to check though.). Also, if you plan to sell at a future date, its good to have stamps in your service log book, and receipts of all work carried out to back it up.

Overall though don't sweat it. It doesn't sound like you were ripped off.

If the cam belt was changed, I'd say you got a bargain.
However, you need some written record of the mileage when the belt was changed - partly so you know when it is due again, and partly as proof it was changed should you try to sell the car.

Hi

thats a very good price considering the parts that were changed. Go back and get a receipt though.

Best regards

Did you see the old parts that they took off? I think it sounds too cheap! I don't believe that they did the cam belt.

£350 for those jobs listed, is more than fair, phone the main dealer and ask what they charge for the same work, i estimate it will be double that.
If you dont like bills of that size buy a little car!
