Unless you actually heard this person saying that he lied then no....he can't be sued.

Well, you could sue them for libel or slander, but you'd have to prove that you somehow suffered by their allegations. If they try to sue you for battery, you could try to counter-sue them.

But it would be better and easier to settle this out of court, by talking the people involved, the boss, or even accepting mediation/arbitration.

This is what is called "frivolous lawsuit" and I for one am sick and tired of all this crap. All these freeloaders want money but don't want to work for it. I know you work, but obviously you want more. May I suggest stripping? It pays good, so I hear.
