cycle tire compatable sizes?

I have a 1998 shadow ace 750. The tire on now (front) 120/90/17 . Am I able to put a 140/80/17 without any modifications? I understand that if it has the stock front fender then it should. Does anyone know for sure?

Why woul you want to? The bike will handle like a pig.
