I have a new Dell with a router set up. I have a laptop with the wireless internet card through the router above. I also have an old Gateway computer in a different room that needs an internet connection. Can I use the same router or do I need something else altogether. It's old.

The Gateway is old and I don't think there is a place for a wireless card, which means I will have to ????

If the Gateway computer has an NIC, you can use an Ethernet cable to connect it to the router. If it's a desktop computer, you can use a USB wireless antenna to connect it to the wireless system. If it's a laptop, you can use a USB wireless antenna or a PCMCIA wireless card to connect to the wireless system.

Is the router wireless only or is it a 4port/wireless combo. If wireless only, you would need to get a adpater for the old gateway as well. If its a combo, just run an ethernet cable to the router. Then change your internet setting to use LAN if not already done.(on the gateway)

do you need to pass all the traffic through the single router ? if yes, then you can make the default gateway for all the computers as the ip address of the router .. also if you want the old gateway to pass through the new router you can make do it by assigning the router's new ip in the gateway of the old gateway/machine.
can you explain what exactly you want

You can use the same router, either directly connected by cable to a spare lan port, or wireless. If you want wireless you need to buy a wireless card.

Yes you can use the same router. Chances are you only get one IP from your ISP -- so assign that IP to your router and then assign all your PCs private network IP's and it will work without a problem. Email me if you get stuck.

First could desire to be responsive to what are the mediums obtainable? cord connections or on the spot? If there is obtainable on the spot connection in simple terms in simple terms create on the spot connection on the laptop. If purely under pressure out connection is obtainable, you do not have a call yet to apply RJ 40 5.

Yes...but they all need to be wired or wireless.
And trust me, have the same version o/s , windows, whatever on all of them. if not you will have endless problems.
