The shootings in Newark, New Jersey are horrible. There are too many guns that fall into the wrong hands and not in responsible ones. Opinions?

Unfortunately, all of the black market guns out there may never be recovered...the best thing to do is arm the good guys. If one of those poor murdered friends had a registered and licensed concealed weapon in their possesson, they could have maybe shot those bastard killers first.

personally, i think guns belong solely with police, military personnel, and other security people, the way they are mainly in most of Europe (at least in the past mostly)

i don't think "responsible" average citizens need them either

the average suburbanite or rural person (which are the places most Americans live...very few live in cities like me...the majority live outside large cities) really has no reason to have a gun to "defend him/her self"

the "illegal" guns come from somewhere: robberies of gun stores, robberies of homes of "average citizens", and actual gun trade of illegal guns

if there were no gun stores and they weren't in private homes, that would solve a bit of the problem

but to stop the sale of illegal guns would require committment and money the government and public isn't willing to make, for the same reasons illegal drugs aren't stopped

and there is SO MUCH i wish I could tell you as a person who knows about all of this very well.....

not just "bad people" are profiting, just like with illicit drugs

as for inner city violence, a movement, a paradigm shift for those individuals involved and more positive lifestyles all around would stop that

but the people involved in violent lifestyles in the cities have generational poverty and ignorance and other issues to deal with, problem after problem, so it continues from strength to strength

i try to help do my part on that end, because the suburban folk and rural people (I actually have many relatives who are both but I am saying this generally) are never going to give up their precious guns

my husband is an example...he was a Marine and a cop and a PI and he just insists on having them

i hate guns and believe they attract negative energy and situations but he will not give them up

he is very responsible with them but i lived by myself and all over the world and went to dangerous places, never needing guns

it is pathetic to me

Start a "Guns for Weed" program. People high on marijuana are generally docile and hungry.
What are the cops gonna do with that contraban that they seize? Is that why they always want pastries?

By only selling them to people with special licenses. The right to bear arms is a ridiculous amendment.

i'm agaisnt gun control but i think such things as waiting periods and background checks are just little obligations that i'll follow if it means you have less problems with gun ownership. i currently do not own a gun myself but all my relatives abide by the laws to own their resistered legally bought firearms.
