I've had a goldfish for a couple of years. It was a sort of olive brown when I first got it.

Now, in the space of about a week, it's turned bright orange!!!!!!!!!!! I'm feeding it the same brand of food and it's perfectly healthy.......just ORANGE!!!!!!!!!!

I don't particularly like the colour - What has caused this?

Is it destined to spend the rest of its life this colour?

Goldfish are born brown and develop their color as they grow older. Your goldfish just may have been so young that he had not yet developed his color. Also, a bronze coloring can either be a specially bred color or it is the natural color of wild goldfish. So, your goldy could have been a previously wild fish or one with the specially bred color. Now, the thing with all the specially bred colors is that these are not inherent in the goldfish and are as a result of manipulated and mutated genes. These genes are very unstable and seldom hold their colorings over the life of the fish and it takes several to many generations of fish to get new colors stable. So, either your goldy was a baby who is now coming into its own colorings, or it was a wild goldy or it was a specially bred bronze goldy whose genes were not stable and he is reverting back to his stronger genetic coloring. Yes, he is destined to spend the rest of his life at least part of this color, but may evolve still into other/more/different colorings. Just love him for who he is on the inside! lol!

Several things can cause such a color change. Age is one and if that's the case he will not change back. Also, the color of your gravel can have a huge impact on the color of a goldfish. Dark colored goldfish kept over light gravel often change to a littler or even gold color. If you have light colored gravel you might consider swapping it for a dark color and see if he changes back in a few weeks.
