1st question:
Find the least common denominator of 9 and 2; that must be 18:
7/9 becomes 14/18 and 4 1/2 becomes 4 9/18. Then proceed to add the numerators.
= 14/18 + 81/18
= 95/18
Transform the sum into a proper mixed number.
= 5 5/18

2nd question:
The least common denominator is 5:
Thus 8 becomes 40/5 and 2 4/5 becomes 14/5.
= 40/5 - 14/5
= 26/5
Transform the difference into a proper mixed number.
= 5 1/5

Hey.

well you have to firstly make the fractin top heavy meaning that you put the whole number into the fraction. for example 1 1/2 would become 3/2. do this with both numbers or however many there are and then chancge the denominators to the same value. to do that just find the smallest number they both multiply for the dinominator and then multiply the top of each by the times u multiplied the dinominator.

if you given a whoole number such as 8 you also just put it in a fraction to become 8/1.

hope that helped you.

The lowest number both "8" and "3" have in common is 24. So the fractions become:
