Some parents went to those schools themselves and see no problem with sending their children there. Some think the level of education is better. Some think students of the opposite sex are a distraction. A variety of reasons. Is same sex schooling a good thing? No, we all need interaction with children of both sexes to learn and to develop proper social skills.

Sometimes girls get distracted by boys (same with boys other way around) and they slack on their work so sometimes the parents send them to a same sex school so they won't be distracted and they would spend more time on their school work. but it's not good to keep them in a same sex school for to to long otherwise they might get less social with the opposite sex and that might cause shyness around anyone they don't know very well.

So their child can focus on school work instead of the opposite sex,It would be too much of a distraction especially if the boy or a girl is cute.

Sometimes parents do this because the child is having issues with the opposite sex.

Boston offered same sex high schools till late in the twentieth century. Parents either just went with the choice because the school was the only one in their neighborhood or because they thought it would prevent their teenage kids from having any interest in the opposite sex.

Most of the time, same-sex schools are private schools that offer higher test scores and behavior records than their public counterparts. Another reason could easily be the lack of exposure to the other sex to cut down on any liaisons between them.

It's not correct, of course, but that's probably the thought process.

Less distraction in older grade with competing for the attention of the opposite sex. That would be the only reason and I personally think that would suck. Children learn socialization through exposure to situations involving other people.

Some of them may be over-protective.

I know I would learn worse in a same sex school. It was bad enough having an all-boys PE class.

Same-sex schools are invariably private schools - with MUCH higher standards than public schools.

The answer to your question is "to get a top-quality education".

One thing I really like about private schools is that pupils are mandated to wear uniforms.

YES! We're here to learn; it's NOT a fashion show!

My guess is to try to make sure their child focused on school instead of trying to find a boy/girl friend.
