We are building the worlds most incredible superpower, China.
I can't believe how stupid we have become, drunk on our own greed.

When they become the one true Goliath they will probably enslave us.

And Toys R Us bibs with lead paint. These companies aren't paying attention. Parents, don't buy Chinese products. I know it's hard to say "you got half as many toys as Bobby because I want to keep you safe."

Global trade wouldn't be so bad if US regulations were enforced. The Mattell CEO admitted they didn't check on their suppliers-they are too big. Does seem a case to "Buy American" again.

The lead based paints on Mattel toys was a case of intentional greed to get more profits. If it was not discovered by responsible persons, the toys will not be recalled.

Judging by the prompt suicide of one of the owners of the Chinese company, I'd guess that it wasn't exactly an accident.

It does illustrate the need to monitor imports more effectively. That'd mean raising tarrifs, of course, which would raise prices of imports, and, since we import so much these days, that would probably set off a round of inflation...

Trade deals with Chinese should be all called into question and the truth is we should quit feeding their economy anyway.

I'll bet if we had strong, global labor unions, labor laws and safety standards it wouldn't have happened.
