I got a group of 6-8 people going to Vegas. Everyone in their mid 20s now making decent salaries, but of course saving $ is always cool too, and how important is the room in Vegas really? I'm assigned the task of booking the hotel room(s), my options are:

A) 2 standard rooms - everyone's got a bed, no sneaking needed.
B) 1 BIG Suite - Most have a bed/sofa, few may have to sleep on the floor..some sneaking may be necessary...but we'll have a suite to party in...maybe.

What would you choose and why?

Personally when you have that many I would go with two rooms, most of the time you can get two rooms for less than a large suite.

Standard rooms can start at $100 on up depending on location and date Suites start at $400 on up.

Also as you mentioned you will have plenty of beds you will find using the showers/bathrooms much easier than that of a suite.

I have always liked more than one room for large groups it just seams like it is less stress-full.

If you don't mind were you stay try www.priceline.com and bid on a 3 or 4 star hotel. this could save you some money although you may find yourself downtown.

Have fun and good luck.

Even the biggest suites in Vegas are mostly designed as one-bedroom and intended for 2 people, with one big bed and one bathroom. The 1500 XB is a 2-bedroom with 3 beds and 2 bathrooms, but I have been in one before and I think it would feel crowded with 6 people.

With 8 people you might as well just get a campsite, any suite will be filthy and crowded and uncomfortable with that many people, with clothes and luggage and blankets and towels and crap all over the place. It will not be a place to party in.

If you have the money my best advice is to get one big suite to party in but have no more than 2 people sleep in it (maybe 4 if it's 2-bedroom), then get 2-3 other standard rooms for everyone else to go back to at the end of the night.

If that's more than you want to spend, skip the suite and just get 3-4 rooms.

I booked the 1500 XB Suite at the Mandalay bay. The total came to about $1700. We will have between 8 and nine total in this room. The max number of keys you can get is six in which they charge $35 extra for the extra keys over 4. It should end up being about $250/person for three nights (Thurs, Fri, Sat). Three big beds and a sofa and I figure 1500 Square Feet is plenty of room. I have never been to this hotel. My trip is in a few weeks so we will see how it turns out. Check out the 1500 XP on Mandalay Bay's website.

We LOVE the 2 bedroom suites at the Mirage. More than enough room for everyone and truly the best place we've ever stayed in Vegas. Mirage has the best pools, best service, etc. That's just our (me and my family) opinion though.

Do be honest with them about how many will be in your suite though. Security will keep out anyone who doesn't have a key. They usually have security by the elevators to make sure no one without a key goes up.

Ask everyone what they are comfortable with. I went to Vegas a month ago. It was 7 of us. I got 2 beds and a small sofa. And we took an air mattress. Room cam out to $25.00 a head instead of $100 per couple. More for gambling.

You can party all over Vegas. I would go with the 2 bedrooms. Why would you want to party in your hotel room when there are so many cool places to hang out there??

Bedrooms are for sleeping and for...other things..naughty

A.

Why? Because everyone will need a room in hand if they want to use the pool at the hotel, and during many busy weekends security wants to see key in hand before they let you have access to the elevators to the rooms.

if you want to seperate rooms but to also be close with eachother, just ask for two rooms that are connected. it has the door between and you can just open it and be together and close it when you want. i'm pretty sure most of the hotels have it.
